Throwback of The Day: Monie Love
“Your homeboy likes me, I like him too…. get out the picture”……

I’m sure we’ve all been this situation a time or two before. Today’s throwback comes from a female British emcee known as Monie Love. First introduced on Queen Latifah’s “Ladies First’ single, Monie Love definitely made her presence known her speedy delivery and jaw dropping rhymes. She was also featured on hits like De La Soul’s “Buddy” and Jungle Brothers “Doin Own Thing”. She would eventually go on to sign an exclusive deal with Warner Brothers Records in ’89, making Ms. Love one of the first few British Hip Hop artist to sign a major deal. Her debut album Down To Earth received 2 grammy nominations and reach #26 on Top Hip Hop/R&B charts. Since then she gone on to release additional albums, has been featured on various projects and is a successful radio personality.
