Heavy D & The Boyz | Throwback Of The Day

Today’s selected throwback comes from a group of Mount Vernon natives who played a pivotal role in hip hop during the late 80′s and 90′s. Known as Heavy D and The Boyz, the group consisted of G-Whiz (Glen Parrish), ”Trouble” T Roy (Troy Dixon) Eddie F ( Edward Farrell), and Heavy D (Dwight Myers). They were the first act to be signed to Uptown Records and reached commercial with their 87 debut album entitled Livin Large. The group would go on to release 8 studio albums throughout their career earning them platinum and gold accolades. Unfortunately, in 1990 the group experienced the loss of their member and brother Trouble T.Roy prompting the tribute album Peaceful Journey. One of their most successful albums date, the group had hits like ” Now That We Found Love” , ” Is It Good To You”. And today selected throwback ” Somebody For Me” featuring Al B Sure.
