Introducing Miss Golden Globe: Mavis Spencer

Mavis Spencer, daughter of award-winning actress Alfre Woodard, has been named by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to the post of Miss Golden Globe. According to People.com, the announcement was made by Philip Berk, president of the HPPA, at a Golden Globes Salute Young Hollywood party held at Nobu restaurant in Los Angeles on Tue., Dec. 8. Miss Golden Globe may be a largely ceremonial honor, but it does require one vital function: “assisting” during the Golden Globe Awards ceremony, which really means holding the award to be given to the winner in each category. The 67th Annual Golden Globes are scheduled for Hollywood on Sun., Jan. 17, 2010. Spencer, who is an accomplished equestrian and model and will take up her undergraduate acting studies at Columbia University next fall.
